The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California—and the show was thoroughly entertaining, thanks in large part to host Kenan Thompson. He had us laughing from beginning to end. And can we talk about that Good Burger reunion with Kel Mitchell?! Shows like Ted Lasso, Succession, and The White Lotus swept many of the categories they were nominated for. But what really has us glued to these awards shows, more so than seeing our favorite stars take home their well-deserved trophies, is the red carpet. Every year, without fail, we plant ourselves in front of our TV to watch the stars arrive and gawk over their red carpet hair moments. Below are our favorite Emmys hair moments from the 2022 show!

Not only did Zendaya take home the Emmy for Lead Actress (her second time winning the award), but the Euphoria star also had some of the best hair on the red carpet. Celebrity hairstylist Tony Medina took inspiration from old Hollywood and Grace Kelly for this hairstyle. What makes the look even better? Medina used Tangle Teezer products to create it, meaning you too can have hair like Zendaya.

The Emmys can sometimes feel a bit stuffy when it comes to the red carpet. Attendees want to be glamorous, though they often forget they can have fun with it too. So we were absolutely obsessed when we saw Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph walk the carpet in this mile-long braid adorned with hair gems. Created by Moira “Fingaz” Frazier, we don’t think we’ll ever forget this look. Nor will we forget Ralph’s powerful speech after nabbing an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

Another stunning look from Frazier, Nicole Byer had loads of fun walking the red carpet in these wiry twists. We love how they play up her volume on the ends, showing off those gorgeous curls of hers.

Elle Fanning also gave a nod to old Hollywood with her Emmy’s look this year, sporting the most perfect mid-20th century coils. There is nary a hair out of place.

Accessories really make all the difference. Just look at Squid Games star HoYeon Jung’s Emmy’s red carpet style. A chic and simple bob with bangs is elevated to trendsetter status by the placement of her hairpin at the crown of her head.

Severance star Britt Lower donned the cutest microbangs for her Emmy’s red carpet look. And can we talk about that deep rose gold hue? We’re itching to try this look ourselves.

The Executive Producer of Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls walked away a big winner last night, with the show taking home an Emmy for Competition Series. And she looked stunning while doing it with her Bantu knots. We like to think the gold accents in this hairstyle were foreshadowing her win.

Jasmin Savoy arrived at the Emmy’s red carpet looking sleek and chic in her modern take on a classic hairstyle. We’ve been seeing the slicked-back bun everywhere these days, but the Yellowjackets star made the style all her own with her soft edges.

Legendary actress, singer, and all-around icon, Tracie Thoms, looked as stunning as ever in her braided hairstyle. The way the blonde strands perfectly fall out of the twist to frame her face is nothing short of magical.

Master colorist Jennifer Judy helped actor Mark Indelicato switch up his color just in time for the Emmys. We’re so glad it was able to happen, because we may have just found the perfect fall hair color inspo in this bright red shade.

Nothing brings us more joy than a blunt bob. Seeing Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci waltz down the carpet made our dreams come true. Hairdresser Mark Hampton did not disappoint with this style.

Emmy award-winning hair artist Kiyah Wright shared that the inspiration behind Laverne Cox’s perky pony was ‘90s supermodels—we definitely see it. We’re also getting a little bit of bondage from this look, which is always a welcomed added touch.

Ozark star Julia Garner took home her third Emmy for her supporting role in the Netflix series. She won big and looked incredible while doing it in this curly pixie haircut. Her bright blonde curls are always a sight for sore eyes.

We’re sensing a theme that microbangs are about to be a huge bang trend once again. Honestly, we’re here for it—especially if we can get ours to look half as good as screenwriter Stefani Robinson’s. Paired with long, luscious waves, this is one of our favorite hair moments of the night.

You might’ve already caught onto this by now, but we’re a sucker for tousled curls. There’s nothing we find more exhilarating than coils that have a little edge to them. While actress Jessica Chaffin’s copper curls are perfect, the added texture makes them all the more stunning.

We never thought we’d see Seth Rogen as a blonde, but here we are. We’re loving this color on him, too. Something about it feels like he should’ve had blonde hair this whole time. Is it just us?

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star is known for taking inspiration from previous eras for her red carpet style—this year was no exception. Her elegant 1920s updo is given a vampy edge thanks to her darker makeup.

Comedian, actress, and writer Robin Thede was a pretty princess in custom Christian Siriano and a ballerina bun created by hairstylist Shavonne Brown. Everything about Thede’s Emmy’s red carpet style screams prom inspo.

Quinta Brunson won her first Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series last night for her show Abbott Elementary. As huge fans of Brunson’s show and career, we literally jumped with joy over her win. But before that, we were oohing and ahhing over her red carpet style. Hairstylist Alexander Armand graced this winner with gorgeous old Hollywood waves.

We couldn’t just pick one look from the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14, so we included all those in attendance. Drag queens just do it better.

And the way to prevent muted granny gray.
